Construction is set to begin next year in two phases. In the first phase, a circular interchange with a radius of 60 meters and two underground roads will be built, and Nguyễn Hữu Thọ and Lê Văn Lương will be widened. In the second phase, along with the widening of Nguyễn Hữu Thọ Street, a two-lane elevated road and two underground lanes will be built.

 

To ease traffic flows from and to South Saigon, six new bridges connecting other parts of the city will also be built. Nguyễn Khoái Bridge will connect the Him Lam Residential area in District 7 and Bến Vân Đồn Street in District 4 (Construction will begin next year and take 18 months). Also next year Rạch Đĩa 1 Bridge will be upgraded on Lê Văn Lương Street, connecting Districts 7 and Nhà Bè. The 329-metre bridge is expected to be finished in the first quarter of 2018. Directly connecting Thủ Thiêm Area in District 2 with District 7 will be Thủ Thiêm 4 Bridge, which is expected to complete in the fourth quarter of 2019. Thủ Thiêm 3 Bridge will connect Tôn Đản Street in District 4 and Thủ Thiêm Area in District 2. The bridge will pass over Nguyễn Tất Thành Street and the Saigon River. Phước Khánh Bridge, part of the Long Thành – Bến Lức Expressway, with four lanes and the length of 3.2km is under construction and will be finished in the first quarter of 2019. Bình Khánh Bridge, also part of the Expressway, will also have four lanes and open to traffic in the third quarter of 2019. When finished, Phước Khánh and Bình Khánh will provide easier access to the Mekong Delta as well as other provinces like Đồng Nai and Vũng Tàu.
People living in the South Saigon area will have more choices of transport when projects like the Metro Line No. 4 connecting to the HCM City’s Central Business District, the Monorail Line No. 2 and Bus Rapid Transit Line No. 2 are completed. All of these are expected to be finished soon.
